You Can Change Your Situation by T. D. Ikiriko
Human life in its entirety reflects on change, and every man on the surface of the earth is in need of one change or the other. Take an example of acts of the poor man and the rich man. The poor man wants to get rich and the rich man wants to get richer. Tell the rich man that what he’s got is enough; he’ll tell you that it is not enough. If you insist, he can give you 101 reasons why it’s not enough; and that his life still demands to change better. Citizens of nations, people who are financially disappointed, emotionally traumatized, politically hypnotized, tormented and stressed-up too badly are demanding for a change. The civil servants are crying for a change, likewise the entrepreneur. The man in the palace is crying for a change, likewise the man in the prison. The question is that, do you really need a change? Sometimes you don’t really need a change because if you truly need a change, you’ll get it because change of situation is obtainable. Now, how much do you really want to see the glory of God in your life? How much do you really want that progress and prosperity in your life? How much do you really want that capacious and expanded brain for your educational excellence? How much do you need good things reoccurring in your life? How often have you desired for a change of status?
You are a creature of destiny. You are here on earth for a specific assignment. There is an enemy who would not want you to fulfill purpose. He will bring your way different situations to derail you from the pursuit of your assignment. Such situations may tell you that they are permanent; they cannot be changed and that your own is finished; but that is the lies of an enemy. They are forgers of lies; they are all physicians of no value Job 13:4. God can be trusted and any situation is subject to change if the change will start with you. You will change in order for your situation to change. You must study for you to pass exams. You must plant for you to harvest. Change is not chance. You have your part of contribution for the change to be effected. In truth, your desired change is waiting for you to change.
In Job 14:14, Job said, “all the days of my appointed time will I wait until my change comes”. What Job is saying here may read thus, I will not give up “my change is possible mentality” for I know that my season will come. However tough my circumstances may be, I am still optimistic that my change is coming. Job believed that change is possible and obtainable so he desired it but he also did a lot of waiting. The Bible says that the desires of the righteous shall be granted (Prov. 10:29). The Bible says for surely, there is an end; and thine expectations shall not be cut off (Prov. 23:18). There is an end to that your situation. There is an end to that your problem. That your problem has an expiring date and this is your appointed time. This is your appointed season. Expectancy is the breeding ground for turnaround. This is the set time for your change. Both temporal and eternal situations are identified in the word of God (2 Corinthians 4:18). The earthly things which are seen are temporal; but the heavenly things which are not seen are eternal. The problems you encounter here on earth are temporal. Temporal means temporary or subject to change. You can change any temporary or any problematic situation. That is the reason you need to desire and go for a change. If you don’t desire a change today, if you don’t go for a change today, forget to see a change tomorrow. If you do not work out for a positive change today, how will it come to manifest tomorrow? If you don’t plan for a change, why and how will you expect it? Every Change On Earth Is Initiated By Someone Like You. For there to be a change in your desired direction, there is a need for warfare. MEN DON’T JUST GET CHANGE BY CHANCE, THEY FIGHT OR WORK OUT A CHANGE. No king would want to be dethroned just like that. No king will allow his subject to take over his throne just like that. No king will allow his subject to retire just like that. Kings protect their thrones so you need to fight in order to dethrone them and that is warfare in reality and warfare is hard work. Warfare is a diligent service. If you are not diligent in service, how will you make progress? Kings keep their subject to work for them. Kings would want to keep their subjects for life for the purpose best known to them. Hear this! Some situations will want to assume the position of kings over your life and would want to keep you under their charge for life but the truth is that such situation can’t be permanent if we do what we are supposed to do. There is always something to be done to bring in the required change. FOR THERE TO BE A CHANGE, SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE. This season, every obstacle to your breakthrough, your salvation… must be rolled off your way. Every taskmaster shall encounter your God by fire. Every king controlling your domain shall be unseated by fire. Your crown you will take. You will stand tall and you shall be honored for life in the mighty name of Jesus Christ!
Job said, “… He will wait until his change comes”. Job wants who to change his situation for him? When does Job want his situation to be changed (Timing)? Do you wait on God when He has given you what it takes to handle your matter? I want to ask you a question. How long have you waited for a change? Since you graduated from the higher institution, how long have you waited for employment? Hear this and be wise! Some will patiently wait for a change until they’ll die and they will not see the long awaited change. You don’t wait for a change for too long. You create the change that you desire. You may start small but that doesn’t matter. What matters is the pursuit of your big dream. You may claim that you are waiting for a change but you don’t know that you’re wasting precious time and every time spent here on earth, you will give account of what you did with it on the great Day of Judgment. Waiting for a change without doing something is madness; it’s wasting without knowing. You can go ahead and create what you want. You can start small today and still achieve the big dream tomorrow.
In the following sub-headings, we will be looking at some rudimentary conditions for change. Every one desiring for a change need meet these basic conditions. In the book of Numbers 27:1-8, there was a story about the four daughters of Zelophehad who initiated a change for themselves and their forth-coming generations. Practically, they fulfilled these basic conditions for change and also got the needed change of situation. We will look at other Bible characters like the prodigal son, the four lepers at the gate of Samaria and Joseph the Prime minister and their approach towards changing their situations and that of others.
A wise man once said, You must be the change you want to see in the world! For you to change your world, it will certainly start with you for your world is you in reality. Another wise man said,
"Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not quite, the not yet, the not at all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won. It exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours."
